Fireworks mean many things at once—they are celebratory, beautiful, exciting, abrasive, and potentially destructive. In this piece, I draw inspiration from fireworks’ raw energy to create colorful sonic displays that are both joyous and bombastic.

Pyrotechnics was commissioned by a consortium of ensembles led by Dr. Jack Byrd and the University of West Georgia Wind Ensemble. Their premiere of the piece can be heard below:
